Horsey horses

Posted in Animals, Arty on May 10, 2009 by thecatcanwait

I went to see Heather Jansch, a local artist, who makes sculptures out of driftwood and old oak

kaeren 052

Mostly she makes horses.

The photo makes these figures look more impressive than they actually are in reality; close up they seem abit roughshod or ramshackle.

Apparently she makes loadsamoney on comission for installation pieces around the world (as much as £50,000 a pop i’ve been told) There’s one at the Eden Project in Cornwall.

On the way back i saw  a real horse

kaeren 055

White stallion in buttercup meadow i think i’ll call this.

It’ll cost you 50 pence.

Deano and Jones (o)

Last home game of the season versus Morecombe. St James Park full to capacity. A win might have put Exeter straight up. But as it turned out they could only manage a 2-2 draw.

At the end Player of the Season (Jones) greets Hero of every Season (Deano Moxey)

Deano and Joneseo have had a good season (April 09)

Confounding my pessimistic predictions Exeter have done well, very well.

And if they win their final game away to Rotherham next Saturday they will go up

We need a bit of Deano magic (and Jonesey to keep a clean sheet)

Shooting birds

Posted in Animals, Funny Me, People, Places with tags on April 20, 2009 by thecatcanwait

Walking around Stover Park. A bird spotters paradise.

And all the big guns come out (to shoot the birds with)

Shall we kill this swan with our cameras (April 09)

Is this overkill or what?! (The guy on the left was bragging about how many thousands of pounds his equipment had cost)

I’ve noticed guys seem to go for big cameras; dangling their big lenses everywhere.

And there was me with my diddy little Cybershot!

Doing no harm at all……(Lol)

Scarecrows and sexy laundry

Posted in Funny Me, Places on April 19, 2009 by thecatcanwait

To Newton Abbot car boot.

A woman was selling scarecrows

Scarecrow convention (April 09)

Scarecrows are very necessary in this part of the world. To scare off pervs that like doing this kind of thing

Sexy laundry (April 09)

Is it sexy lingerie or sexy laundry

The perv that hung them there wanted to know why i was taking a pic. “Cus it looks incongruous” i said.

He gave me a look. An incongruous look.

Or maybe it was leer.

Noddy head

I’ve been wearing this woolly hat all winter long

Noddy Head (April 09)

Nobody has bothered to tell me it makes me look like a prat!

Shimmering gold

is Dean Burn

Dean Burn shimmering gold (April 09)

on a Sunday afternoon.

I’d just been having outdoor sex in the Spring sunshine.

And now we went down to dip our toes in this golden stream.

One of those “moments”

And then there was 1

Only 8 days ago i took this picture

zoo-257

A young mother with fresh born duckling darlings.

Count them – there’s 8 right?

And now – today – look at what’s happened

ducks-006

She’s got 1 left!

What happened to the other 7? The sneaky cats around here….. Grrrr!

I could hardly get near the one that’s survived. Mother ran around  everywhere this duckling went; understandably very nervous, protective.

For one brief moment they separated – and i took this pic

ducks-003

Hardly much bigger than that fag butt is it?

Fragile life is. Everything is dispensable, disposable.

The red mini

ducks-001

You don’t see mini’s much these days, especially not red mini’s (maybe you do, and i need to get out more)

This little chap is parked up in our car park.

Wonder who it belongs to?

Somebody interesting.

Living here?!

Seeing what you want to believe

What’s that out in the Bay?

Looks like 2 seals playing.

I need to go and investigate. Clamber over the rocks to get nearer.

In the gathering gloom, in the magical twilight

anything is possible.

A Monster from The Deep anybody?…..Lol

Upsetting the Gobblers

Posted in Animals, Food with tags on March 12, 2009 by thecatcanwait

I goes down to the car park to wind up Gobbler & Co.

Throw out The Indigestible.

mrs-gobbler-does-her-best-march-091Mrs Gobbler is the first to pick up.

Struggling to actually hold it in her red beak.

It looks like bread.

But it tastes like a bit of mouldy old rubber.

She drops it.

gobbler-goes-in-for-the-kill-march-09Next comes The Gobbler.

Next comes The Gobbler

In for the kill.

What you gonna make of that Gob?

gobbler-is-disgusted-march-09

Disgusting. Disgusted!

I thought he was gonna attack me he was so upset.

German Rye bread is an acquired taste.

And best left to Germans to acquire it.
